About

A figurative and representational painter of people and things. These are usually set in an alternative lighting or reframed scenario, and the topics of choice are primarily selected to celebrate the mundane or the ordinary. Life never stops suggesting potential and possibilities for painting. Often, the subject, timing and narrative of a piece can be as important as the style and technique used to make it.

All the works carry an element of story within them. The intention is often to give them a history and future. They are both day and night, before and after, exciting and dull. The paintings try to invite a viewer to feel their way through the content, and sometimes that won’t be a pleasant process.

The way that colour is used is as important as form. Colour relationships and harmonies are not set in stone, and new colour ‘chords’ are created every day. The objective is to squeeze them, make them relate to the content, and find a synergy between all the components. It is a battle.

Sometimes works are available direct from the artist. Often they are available through a few select galleries. Either fill out the form to find out more, or get in touch through email or instagram
